Stability
Acrylic: very hard, but rigid. Gel: stable AND flexible — it breaks awkwardly less often and is easier to wear.

Looking for acrylic? We'll tell you honestly when acrylic makes sense — and when modern gel sculpting is the better choice for your nails.
Acrylic vs. gel
Acrylic (powder + liquid) is known for extreme hardness and long extensions. The downside: acrylic is more rigid, has a stronger odour during application and is less forgiving as it grows out — breakages act directly on the natural nail.
Modern gel systems have caught up: today they are similarly stable, but more flexible, odour-free and gentler on the natural nail — and they're easy to maintain at the refill (from €50). That's exactly why we work with high-quality gels in our studio.
Our Slim Nails sculpting (from €70) delivers what many are looking for in acrylic: long, slim, stable nails — only more flexible and more natural to wear. Come by or give us a call: we'll look at your nails and advise you honestly and free of charge on which technique suits your everyday life.
The comparison
Acrylic: very hard, but rigid. Gel: stable AND flexible — it breaks awkwardly less often and is easier to wear.
Gel is applied and removed more gently — your natural nail stays healthier, especially with continuous wear.
Slim gel sets look thinner and more natural than classic acrylic — at full length.
Gel refill every 3–4 weeks from €50 — straightforward, plannable, without a complete rebuild.

Acrylic know-how
You wear acrylic nails and are thinking of switching? The switch is straightforward: we gently remove the old acrylic product (from €30), assess the condition of your natural nails honestly and build — depending on nail condition — a new gel set right in the same appointment.
If your natural nails have become thin after a long time wearing acrylic, we sometimes recommend an intermediate step: first a thin natural nail strengthening with care, then the full set. That takes a few weeks longer — but your nails will thank you for it lastingly.
For decades acrylic was the standard for hard, long nails — and it earned that reputation. Technically, though, modern gel systems have caught up: today they achieve comparable stability, while being more flexible (so they break awkwardly less often), odour-free during application and gentler to remove.
For you as a client that means: you get the look and length that used to require acrylic — with a more comfortable feel to wear and a healthier natural nail underneath. Our slim-nails technique (from €70) shows this most clearly: long, slim, stable nails with a wafer-thin finish.
Maybe you ended up here searching for "acrylic nails Vienna" — and leave with a gel appointment. Maybe not. Either is fine: our advice is free and without obligation, and it's guided by your nails, not by our revenue.
Just drop by at Favoritenstraße 68 in 1040 Vienna or give us a call: we'll look at your nails, answer your questions about acrylic and gel — and you decide at your leisure what you want. Mon–Sat from 9 am to 7 pm, right in the middle of Wieden.
Common questions
In everyday life: yes. Modern building gels reach a hardness and durability that is perfectly adequate for normal strain — housework, office, sport. The difference only shows under extreme strain, and even there acrylic is not indestructible: it just breaks differently, often more awkwardly for the natural nail.
With a regular refill every 3–4 weeks the gel structure stays consistently stable — that's the real key to longevity, regardless of the material.
You don't have to! If you're happy with your nails, that's the main thing. The switch is worth it above all when something about acrylic bothers you: the stiff feel to wear, the odour during application or natural nails thinning after years of wear.
Our recommendation: at your next due rebuild, simply try a gel set and compare for yourself. Many who switch stick with it — some also combine both depending on the season. Either is fine; they're your nails.
Common questions
Our studio specialises in high-quality gel systems — today they are similarly stable to acrylic, but more flexible and gentler on the natural nail. If you're used to acrylic, have a quick chat with us: most clients are thrilled with slim gel sculpting.
Yes, we gently remove old acrylic or gel product from €30 and, if you like, build you a new set right away.
Acrylic is harder, gel is more flexible — with modern application there's barely any difference in everyday stability. The difference lies in how it feels to wear and in nail protection, where gel is clearly ahead.
The complete slim-nails gel set costs from €70, the regular refill from €50 — including shaping and sealing.
