Perm Vienna — soft modern waves with natural volume and shine, hairdresser Coiffeur Favorita 1040

The comeback

The modern perm

Forget the granny curls of the 80s: the modern perm works with large rollers and softer wave patterns — the result is soft beach waves, more grip and volume that doesn't need restyling every single morning.

Whether fine hair that needs more fullness, straight hair that should finally get some movement, or the wish for lasting curls — we advise you on which wave pattern suits your hair and how easy the result is to manage day to day.

Price and duration depend heavily on hair length, density and the desired wave pattern — which is why we'll tell you the price transparently after a short consultation, by phone or directly in the salon.

Wave know-how

Modern perm — technique and hair type

Which wave pattern suits which hair

The size of the rollers determines the look: large rollers create soft, open waves — the modern beach-wave effect. Medium sizes bring defined curls with bounce, and rollers placed only at the roots create pure volume with no visible "curl".

Hair length plays its part too: bob lengths carry soft waves particularly beautifully, while long hair needs a well-thought-out winding pattern so the wave isn't pulled down by its own weight. We plan all of this in the consultation — before any roller touches your hair.

Perm and colour — do they go together?

Yes, with planning: there should usually be about two weeks between reshaping and colouring, so the hair can stabilise. We set the order and the intervals together — depending on how stressed your hair is.

With heavily bleached or very damaged hair, when in doubt we honestly advise against it or first recommend a rebuilding phase with care. A perm should make your hair more beautiful — not turn into a stress test.

Care after reshaping

The first 48 hours after the perm: don't wash it, don't tie it up, don't straighten it — the new structure is still setting. After that, curl logic applies: moisturising care, gentle drying with a diffuser and products that define bounce rather than weigh it down.

With the right routine the wave pattern holds for many months and grows out softly. And if you're unsure which products your waves need: at the end of the appointment we'll show you exactly what works at home — part of the service at our salon in 1040 Vienna.

Who it suits

Perm: type check before the appointment

Ideal candidates — and borderline cases

The most rewarding response comes from healthy, untreated or only lightly coloured hair of medium density: here soft, long-lasting wave patterns with a natural fall are created. Fine hair benefits enormously too — volume from the roots that no dry shampoo in the world can deliver.

Borderline cases are heavily bleached, very porous or chemically straightened hair: here we check especially carefully and, when in doubt, honestly say "not yet" — with a care plan that first makes your hair ready for waving again.

A topic for men too

The modern perm is long since no longer a women's affair: soft waves and texture in the top hair — from subtly tousled to curly — have been among the most striking men's trends of recent years. The technique is the same, the wave pattern is tailored to shorter hair.

The prerequisite is enough length in the top hair (as a guide: several centimetres). Whether your cut allows it, we'll clarify in two minutes — just drop by or ask at your next men's cut.

Frequently asked

Perm — FAQ

Is a perm still up to date these days?

Yes — it's enjoying a real comeback right now, but in a modern form: soft waves and natural volume instead of tight retro curls. What matters is roller size and technique.

How long does a perm last?

The wave pattern usually holds for several months and grows out gently. Exactly how long depends on your hair structure, care and the desired wave pattern — we'll discuss that in the consultation.

Does a perm damage my hair?

Reshaping does put a strain on the hair — which is why we honestly assess the condition of your hair beforehand. With heavily bleached or damaged hair we may advise against it or first recommend rebuilding care.

What does a perm cost with you?

The price depends on hair length and wave pattern — we'll tell you transparently after a short free consultation, by phone or in the salon.
